Ingenuity has always been one of the things that makes Presco special, and the spirit of this in our company today is traced directly back to our founders, the McMackins.  EdEdwin “Ed” McMackin, was instrumental in bringing this spirit of ingenuity to Presco and there are many stories of his creativity.  In honor of National Constitution Day (which was yesterday) we’ll share this one.

The U.S.S. Constitution is is the world’s oldest commissioned naval vessel still afloat.  It was named by George Washington in honor of the Constitution of the United States of America and is a ship that is an incredible piece of America’s history.  While there are thousands of model ships built after Old Ironsides, none of them (to our knowledge) are quite like the model built by Ed McMackin…

Instead of purchasing a kit for his model project Ed did it the old fashioned way.  He downloaded plans and researched the vessel from the US Library of Congress and then took matters into his own hands, painstakingly building the entire model ship from scratch.  The finished model is true to the original ship and the amount of detail is amazing!  Perfect sails, block and tackle in all of the right places, lifeboats hanging from the side and even cannons in a row that actually fire.  The completed model sits now in the lobby or our Presco Plant and is enthralls visitor after visitor.
