As of 2016, roughly 36.21% of the United States is considered forested, with many areas located on the East Coast. However, according to the USDA, there are a host of challenges that our Nation’s forests are currently facing, some of which include drought, thawing permafrost, beetle outbreaks, flooding, and fires. Because of these environmental factors, the forestry industry has had to take special precautions to ensure personal and ecological safety.
