I always like to tell people that here at Presco, we will try anything once.  It’s embedded in our DNA to be open to new ideas and take swings when we are up at bat.  Everyone at Presco enjoys learning, and partnering with our customer’s on new products is a great way to break out of the mold.  It’s a way of doing business that Waymon McMackin taught each and every one of us at Presco.  Waymon never wanted to be a ‘me too’ supplier for his customers.  He wanted to take the current vinyl film and make it better for a customer.  And there isn’t a better way to learn than to be completely open and available to our customers.

Presco is a private, family owned business which keeps us from being tied down by red tape.  Fast turnaround, accessibility and a ‘no rules’ attitude keep the development process moving along quickly and our customers seem to really respond to that approach.  In manufacturing, if you aren’t moving forward, you’re moving backwards and we at Presco always want to move forward and quickly.

It all starts with our team.  The R&D team at Presco is comprised of some of the smartest people I have had the pleasure to work with.  The innovative spirit begins there.  Also, the R&D lab was built with the idea to speed up the development process for our customers.  We have a lab extruder which allows us to do proof of concepts on a small scale, which cuts time and costs for our customers.  We also have other equipment to aid in fast color matches.

How smart is our development team, you ask? They are so smart, it only takes them 20 minutes to watch ’60 Minutes’

Our approach to development with our customers has kept Presco, a domestic manufacturer of vinyl, competitive in a market with huge import pressures centered around stiff price competition.  The price of import vinyl might be appealing but we have found that our customers really value a development partnership with their vendors.  And that is what Presco values as well.  We don’t want to just help our customers meet the status quo, we want to help them grow in any way we can.  That might mean our development process is aimed at evaluating the vinyl to increase production rates, reduce scrap, improving a current product or helping to develop a brand new product for the market.  That type of vendor relationship isn’t available with an import product, nor is the trust.  When you buy from Presco, you are apart of the family.
